i forgot! how could i forget!

prop. 8 was upheld and will go back to court and back on the ballot at sometime but the justices up the 18.000 marriages performed while it was legal. that means we are still married!

down to the wire or should i say dock?

it's wednesday, late afternoon and we leave sunday! i think it's easier to prepare for a road trip than a first cruise. we also have customs to worry about on this one as we are entering canada. i'm not worried, shucks whats another customs to clear. at least we aren't taking our luggage off at this stop.
looks like the weather is going to be nice up there also. that means pack a sweatshirt for sure.
we will have lunch with our cousin shirley while in seattle! it's been too long since we've seen her. most of the family moved north a long time ago.
we are also proud of carole's grandaughter, she's graduating from sussex high school in delaware monday! she's also working! we wish we could be there but we had the trip planned before we knew. just so she knows how proud we are.

Good thing we are still flexible at our age!

well, here we go again! changes, changes and more changes! we are not going to mexico, no one is going to mexico thanks to a bunch of pigs! seriously i know it's not the pigs.....

when we depart san pedro and pass by the lighthouse we are making a right turn heading north! our first stop will be san francisco giving us a chance to go under the golden gate bridge! we dock at 2pm so should get some interesting pictures. don't know what we will do yet while there. we then head up to victoria, bc for the next day. we are going to look at public transportation for excursion info. ship excursions are way too expensive for what you get. everyone says we have to go to butchart garden, probably will but open to other suggestions also. following day we are in seattle, wa. pike place market is a must! gotta see those flying fish. again we will probably use public transportation and come up with something else for the day. we have 2 days cruising home and will use that to rest up and enjoy the ship. weather will be cooler but still warmer than yellowstone.

we will do mexico sometime. this will not be our last cruise.

carole had a major bleed again, 2 units of blood again. we will be having a talk with her g.i. dr now. she's better now and ready to go on vacation. i am probably finishing up my cardiac rehab next week. i've really enjoyed this and can now walk without shortness of breath. it's hell getting old folks, but don't stop, keep going, and push yourself!

still here!

lots of changes, activities and yes we still need a vacation!

phoenix, az was a nice trip, weather wonderful, ocotillo and lots of wildflowers still in bloom. we've decided that the next time we decide to drive somewhere it will be for ourselves tho. yes folks, i've decided that someone else can do the driving most of the time.

vacation got all turned around as usual but we are booked on royal caribbean's 'mariner of the seas', leaving
may 31 for cabo san lucas, mazatlan and puerto vallarta! we've never been on a cruise but we are very excited. 7 day cruise, 3 ports and 3 days cruising. we have a balcony stateroom, unobstructed view. we thot about taking fishing gear but afraid the captain wouldn't go into idle for us if we hooked on to something. seems a waste of a balcony! we are doing a shore excursion in mazatlan up into the hills to concordia and another town. we will be gone all day. trying to figure whether or not to take the laptop. probably will post after we get home, we need relaxation. we are taking 2 books each and hopefully will finish both.

it was way too hot here in long beach yesterday, it hit 100. today is 77 and much nicer. sure hope the hot day wasn't an omen!

what a week

wow, where do we start? i think it was monday that we were sitting quietly in the living room and started hearing helicopters, we mean big choppers, many of them! oh, did we tell you that president obama was coming into town? the choppers must've been doing a drill on how to fly back to long beach. they were loud, low and very menacing looking. we had to miss the landing of air force one but went later in the evening and saw it. actually pretty close to it really. it's big folks, really big! carole had a meeting at pride so didn't get to go see it take off. remember the helicopters? well, this time it was real, real military, secret service, the real u.s.a. president! once he boarded the plane, he might've had time to make a quick trip to the head, get back to his seat, buckle up and take off. what a sight it was, probably the closest we will ever get to our president.
did we say we also voted for him????
carole had photos taken of her eyes in preparation for the yag procedure to clear up here lenses. have you seen the inside of the eyeball? incredible! we will know what they are going to do next week. she also had another endoscopy, the never ending battle of bleeding and cauterizing in her stomach. now it will be every 4 weeks. she hangs in, it's much better than the alternative.
we have a temporary room mate, for a few weeks anyway. our pastor, duane won't be able to move in to his new place yet and needed to vacate last place. he's so much fun to have around. he even cooks dinners! the room will get finished by the end of the summer!

way too much going on right now

we need a vacation and we need it now! we will be making a trip to phoenix, az in april. we're driving over for phoenix pride. it's nice over there and hopefully we will have some time to ourselves.

we are ready to take up the carpet in the craft/guest room. so far the hardwood floor looks good. kaiser steele put pretty good oak in these houses. we have paint colors picked out and i'm not looking for any more for this room. right now smokey considers the room hers. she takes 'giggles' in there to play, we think she likes the echo.

we are learning that we can't play rough with her anymore, she likes it too much. carole takes the brunt of it which isn't good for a diabetic. smokey can learn how to play like a girl now. she's such a joy.

after being bombarded by a lot of people i'm trying facebook. we'll see how it turns out. some of this internet stuff seems like a violation of privacy to me. guess it's all in how willing you are to step out there. there are people we'd both love to reconnect with. will keep you all posted.

ok, i'm doing this at 11:45pm and i really need to go to bed now. later everyone, sweet dreams!

a bedroom is unearthed in long beach!

well, furniture is temporarily out of the spare bedroom in anticipation of painting, ripping out carpet and other assorted fun things. it's going to be a craft room/guest room. we are sorting and sifting thru some of mom's stuff too. i might start a second blog with photos of mom's paintings and see if anyone wants them.

we've had much needed rain and our spring flowering plants are blooming! the freesias are opening up and smelling so nice. we want to bring some inside but have to figure out where to put them so that smokey doesn't decide it's lunch!
we never did get to go to british columbia last year. gas prices just got out of hand. we tried 2 other trips and canceled them due to gas prices. we decided that a week in palm springs would do quite nicely. 2 hours from home, sunshine, pool, olympic viewing from the pool. did i say time in the pool? drove around and looked at 'mid-century' homes. it was an awesome trip.

we are leaving may 20 for 9 days at yellowstone. we are flying into jackson hole, wy, spending one night there and driving thru the park to cody for the rest of the stay. carole has never been there and it's been a long time for me. tickets are purchased, hotel reserved and soon will reserve a car. it will still be cool but not intolerable.

yes, we haven't disappeared from sight!

ok, so no apologies for being absent. needless to say life has been full and very good.

a new year, a new life as legally married women and a new addition to our family. we have a kitty now, named smokey. came to us thru friends. she's almost 10 months old and yes, she owns us and everything to do with us, the house, our hearts.

there will be pictures of smokey, our wedding and other stuff soon. in the meantime please check our flickr site. www.flickr.com/cnjfrogs
